Authorities say that a mother in South Carolina allegedly used a metal letter opener to fatally stab her newborn baby just moments after giving birth, before placing the baby’s body in a garbage bag. An T. Ngo, 31, delivered the baby boy in her Easley, SC apartment complex on Mar. 7, according to Fox Carolina. Following the birth, Ngo reportedly cut the umbilical cord with the letter opener and then proceeded to repeatedly stab the infant with the same object, as reported by the Easley Police Department. Easley Police Chief Brandon Liner described the incident as one of the most gruesome he has encountered in over two decades of service. The mother allegedly then placed the bloodied baby in a trash bag and moved it outside the room. Ngo’s boyfriend called the police, who arrived to discover the newborn with severe injuries, pronouncing him dead at the scene. Ngo, who was found responsible for the baby’s death, was taken to the hospital for medical treatment and later arrested on charges of homicide by child abuse. She remains in custody without bail.
