Safety is now considered a luxury in New York City. Introducing Protector, a new app that provides on-demand access to armed ex-military and law enforcement professionals to escort New Yorkers around town. “While high-profile individuals like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos have dedicated security teams, navigating security options can be challenging for most people,” explained Nick Sarath, founder and CEO of Protector. The app, launching in NYC and Los Angeles this Tuesday, offers services for $200 per hour, with the option for customized security measures based on the client’s needs. Clients can choose how their Protectors are dressed and select from a range of vehicles for transportation. Initially, bookings need to be made a day in advance, but the service will eventually be available even quicker, Sarath mentioned. The Protectors are all licensed to carry concealed weapons, ensuring the safety of the clients during their assignments. Influencers who were among the first to use the service expressed feeling secure and impressed with the level of protection provided. Protectors are carefully selected based on their experience in specialized military units, including the Air Force Pararescue, SWAT, and SEAL teams. Sarath emphasized that the main priority is always the safety of the clients during each assignment.
“Before they happen, anticipating risks before they escalate, and ensuring the safety of those I protect so they can navigate their day without fear,” remarked a Protector named Jim, who opted not to disclose his last name for security purposes. Jim described being a Protector as being a second nature to him, attributing it to his extensive background of nearly three decades as a police officer in Los Angeles and a former Marine Corps combat sniper.
“People enlist our services because they seek a sense of safety and peace of mind without compromising their lifestyle. If they are able to focus on their life while I take care of their security, then the mission is considered accomplished,” he added.
