The comedy series “Jury Duty” has been called to serve once again with a renewal for a second season. Originally debuting on Amazon’s now-defunct Freevee streaming platform in 2023, the show has been confirmed to make its comeback on Amazon Prime Video, according to sources close to the production. Amazon has chosen to remain tight-lipped regarding the renewal at this time.
In further details obtained by Variety, it has been disclosed that the upcoming Season 2 will shift its setting from the courtroom to a corporate retreat. Filming for the new season took place in the picturesque locale of Agoura Hills, a suburb located in Los Angeles. Amazon has refrained from providing any official comments on these specific details.
The first season of “Jury Duty” followed the journey of Ronald Gladden as a juror in a trial that descends into chaos, ultimately revealing that the entire case was fabricated, with everyone involved, except for Gladden, being paid actors.
In response to queries about potential future installments, showrunner Cody Heller hinted at the possibility of exploring a completely different universe for the series. Executive producers David Bernad and Todd Schulman echoed Heller’s sentiments in a separate interview with Variety.
Created by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, “Jury Duty” was brought to life with Heller, Bernad, Schulman, and a team of talented individuals serving as executive producers for the first season. Notable cast members from Season 1 included James Marsden, Mekki Leeper, Alan Barinholtz, and Rashida “Sheedz” Olayiwola, among others.
Following the success of the show’s initial run, Amazon has solidified a comprehensive deal with Ronald Gladden, who will collaborate with the studio on various content projects across different platforms.
