Mysterious Death Linked to Deadly Home Booby Trap

A man from South Carolina met a tragic end while checking on a relative’s home recently, as per police reports. The authorities discovered that a shotgun had been set up as a booby trap on the door of the residence.

Upon receiving a report of a shooting on Monday evening, deputies from the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office rushed to the scene. They found 34-year-old Jordan Dove with a gunshot wound and quickly transported him to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, Dove succumbed to his injuries and passed away.

According to the police, Dove was alone in the house at the time of the incident. Further investigation revealed that the front entrance had been fortified, and a shotgun had been rigged to fire at anyone attempting to enter through the back door. Fortunately, law enforcement was able to disable the trap without incurring any injuries.

Sheriff Thomas Summers of Calhoun County mentioned that Dove’s uncle, Alfonzo Brown, resided in the house. Brown is currently detained in Maryland on charges of attempted murder. The sheriff’s office announced that additional charges will be brought against Brown in connection with the shooting. Despite attempts to determine Brown’s current location, CBS News was unable to confirm this information and is seeking clarification from the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities described the shooting as an “isolated incident” but emphasized that the investigation is still ongoing. Sheriff Summers speculated that the booby trap may have been intended for law enforcement officers, presuming that Brown anticipated being pursued. He expressed his belief that the trap was orchestrated to deter law enforcement from investigating further.
