An individual has been charged with the killing of his girlfriend nearly three months after her lifeless body was discovered on the side of Interstate 95 in Florida. The victim, Nahomi Cittadini, 21 years old, was found by Florida Highway Patrol troopers on the morning of December 7 on a ramp near Ives Dairy Road in Miami-Dade County, as reported by Local 10. On that fateful day, law enforcement responded to numerous accounts of a couple engaged in a heated argument along the highway shortly after 6 a.m., according to WSVN.
Detective Luis Sierra of the Miami-Dade Police Department shared at the time that multiple passersby had called in, reporting the altercation. Shortly afterward, the troopers arrived on the scene to find the lifeless body of a female individual. Detective Sierra stated to WSVN, “At this point, the female is undressed. There is a piece of clothing next to her, so I wouldn’t be able to tell you how exactly her clothes were removed, but there is some clothing next to her body.”
The victim’s boyfriend, Lorent Junior Pion, aged 29, was swiftly identified as a person of interest in the case. He was apprehended not long after the discovery of the body and faced charges related to eluding law enforcement. However, he was not formally charged with Cittadini’s murder until recently.
According to CBS News, Pion initially claimed to authorities that his girlfriend had been struck by a vehicle after exiting his car during an argument. Nevertheless, his arrest warrant provides a conflicting narrative. Allegedly, a Florida Department of Transportation worker reviewed traffic footage from that day in the area and observed a man assaulting a woman and forcibly pulling her towards the interstate. The eyewitness purportedly stated that the woman appeared to be attempting to crawl back to safety, but the man allegedly “punched the victim and dragged her back to the far-right lane in the path of oncoming traffic.”
Tragically, Cittadini was subsequently struck by an approaching sedan, as detailed in the warrant cited by Local 10.
A forensic examination conducted by an assistant medical examiner at the scene concluded that the victim’s fatal injuries were a result of blunt force trauma inflicted by being hit by a vehicle. Additionally, the warrant reportedly reveals the discovery of blood both inside and outside of Pion’s car. Further, it is disclosed that Cittadini had previously sought a protective order against Pion following a prior incident of physical violence in Miami Beach last August.
Pion now faces charges of second-degree murder in connection to the death of Cittadini. The victim’s mother expressed to CBS News her desire for Pion to be held accountable for his alleged actions. She stated, “I know that’s not going to bring my daughter back, but at least she’ll rest easier. He has to pay.”
