Myles Garrett Strikes Historic Deal with Browns!

Myles Garrett’s trade request with the Cleveland Browns has been withdrawn, as the team announced on Sunday that he has agreed to a new four-year contract extension that will keep him with the Browns through the 2030 season. While the financial terms were not disclosed by the team, various reports indicate that Garrett will be earning an average of $40 million per year with $123 million guaranteed in the deal. This new contract makes Garrett the highest-paid non-quarterback in the league, surpassing the recent deal signed by Maxx Crosby with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Earlier in February, Garrett had expressed his desire to be traded from the Browns in search of a Super Bowl contender, citing that money was not the main concern. Despite this request, Cleveland.com reported that a lucrative contract extension would not cancel out his trade demand. The Browns, who selected Garrett as the first overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, remained firm in their decision not to trade him.

Garrett, a dominant force on the field, boasts an impressive resume with four All-Pro selections, six Pro Bowl appearances, and the 2023 Defensive Player of the Year award. In his career spanning 117 games, he has accumulated 102.5 sacks, 20 forced fumbles, 200 quarterback hits, and 116 tackles for loss. His remarkable consistency is highlighted by his NFL record of 14 or more sacks in four consecutive seasons from 2021 to 2024.

Having previously signed a five-year, $125 million extension with the Browns in 2020, Garrett, who is currently 29 years old, is expected to count $19.7 million against the team’s salary cap in 2025. His contract would have made him an unrestricted free agent before the 2027 season, according to data from Spotrac.
