A Mexican national, previously deported after a conviction for deliberate homicide, was apprehended by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. The arrest of 53-year-old Carlos Ambriz took place near his home in Oklahoma on March 25, carried out by ICE Dallas Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Fugitive Operations and ERO Special Response teams. A recent ICE statement revealed that Ambriz was unlawfully residing in the country and had previously served a 40-year prison sentence for the murder of his own child.

Describing the severity of the case, ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Dallas Field Office acting Director Josh Johnson emphasized the danger posed by Ambriz to the community due to the heinous nature of the crime. Ambriz had been convicted in Montana and incarcerated at Montana State Prison before being deported to Mexico in 2006 following an immigration judge’s order.
ICE agents successfully located Ambriz at a residence in Oklahoma after years on the run.
The recent arrest of Ambriz is part of a broader effort by ICE to apprehend criminal migrants, particularly those who have victimized children. In addition to Ambriz, ICE also arrested a Guatemalan sex offender in Virginia and another Guatemalan national in New York City, both of whom had been convicted of crimes involving children.
Ambriz is currently in ICE custody awaiting removal proceedings from the U.S., according to the ICE statement. ICE remains dedicated to safeguarding public safety by capturing and deporting criminal aliens who violate immigration laws.
