Mother Arrested for Alleged Murder of 4-Month-Old Son

Authorities in Alabama have taken into custody a mother who has been accused of the shocking murder of her 4-month-old son. The arrest came after an autopsy revealed severe injuries that ultimately led to the infant’s tragic death. The Chambers County emergency dispatch center received a distressing 911 call on January 25 at around 1:55 PM reporting that the infant was experiencing a seizure at a residence in the Old Jackson Heights Housing Project in Lanett, Alabama. The Lanett Police Department issued a statement detailing the events that transpired on that fateful day.
In response to the emergency call, the East Alabama Fire Department was summoned for assistance. The infant, a black male, was quickly transported to the East Alabama Medical Center (EAMC) for urgent medical attention. Following an assessment by the medical staff at EAMC, the baby was airlifted to the Children’s of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham. Tragically, despite the best efforts of medical professionals, the young boy succumbed to his injuries just four days later while under hospital care.
In light of the circumstances surrounding the infant’s death, the Lanett Police Department launched an investigation into the case. The deceased child was transferred to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science Medical Lab in Montgomery for a thorough autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. Suspicion of foul play prompted law enforcement to scrutinize the events leading up to the tragic incident.
After meticulous investigation and examination of evidence, the authorities announced on Wednesday that the mother of the deceased infant, 26-year-old Jamesia Brichae Pruit from Valley, Alabama, had been arrested and charged with the alleged murder of her son. While details regarding the extent of the infant’s injuries were not disclosed, authorities emphasized that the case remains an active investigation. The Lanett Police Department has appealed to the public for any information that may shed light on the circumstances surrounding the infant’s untimely demise.
