Mom’s Shocking DUI Excuse Rushing to Save Baby!

Authorities in El Paso County, Texas apprehended Ivana Dolores Salazar, 27, for allegedly driving under the influence with a 5-month-old infant in an unsecured car seat in her vehicle. Salazar was stopped by officers around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 6, for failing to signal a lane change. Upon speaking with her, officers observed a container with an unknown red liquid, leading them to suspect she was driving while intoxicated.

Despite claiming she was alone on her way to pick up her newborn after work, a subsequent search of her vehicle revealed the unsecured infant. When confronted by police, Salazar expressed ignorance about the baby’s presence and ceased cooperation. The infant was taken for evaluation and placed in the care of a responsible party, with Child Protective Services notified. Salazar faces charges of driving under the influence with a passenger under 15 years old and endangering a child, and is currently held in El Paso County Jail on a $23,000 bond. It remains unclear if she has entered a plea or secured legal representation.
