“The initial response was pure shock, followed by the realization that this was a divine intervention saving us,” recounted Ben Kerstein to the media outlet. “In that moment, all we could do was express our gratitude to God for protecting us.”
In a heart-stopping video capture, the Kerstein family can be seen leisurely strolling along 59th Street and 20th Avenue when suddenly, a massive tree comes crashing down. Shelly Kerstein narrowly escapes the falling tree, narrowly avoiding a tragedy that could have been disastrous.
Recalling the moments leading up to the incident, Shelly shared, “We had just remarked on the tree’s ancient appearance, saying ‘Oh wow, check out that tree, it looks like it’s a thousand years old,’ and then we carried on with our walk. And then it happened – the tree toppled over.”
As the tree splintered into pieces, the family ran for safety, with Shelly describing how the old tree disintegrated into dust due to its age. “We were left standing there in complete shock at what had just occurred,” she told WPIX. “For us, it was undeniably a divine intervention. We are of Jewish faith, and there is no doubt in our minds that God orchestrated this for a purpose, sparing us from harm right before our eyes.”
According to reports, the property owner where the tree once stood opted not to provide any comments to the media outlet.
