Michigan Man Accused of Stealing 8 Corvettes Worth 12M in Kentucky Heist!

In 2013, employees were seen examining a Chevrolet Corvette Stingray at the General Motors Co. Bowling Green Assembly Plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky. A 21-year-old individual is facing charges related to a theft amounting to $1.2 million in Corvettes, following the recovery of eight luxury vehicles stolen from the Kentucky plant.

Deantae Walker, hailing from Westland, Michigan, was apprehended in Bowling Green, Kentucky, on Saturday on charges including evading police, resisting arrest, receiving stolen property, and criminal mischief. Authorities claim that Walker played a role in the heist of eight Corvettes from the General Motors plant in Bowling Green. Another individual who was accompanying him absconded in a Jeep bearing Ohio license plates, as per the authorities.

The Bowling Green police were informed of the theft by the Warren County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies responded to a report at an apartment complex where a woman had spotted a man driving a red Corvette with the price sticker still attached. The woman observed the man exiting the vehicle and fleeing towards the front of the apartment complex.

The plant manager at General Motors verified that the vehicle belonged to their lot. Another Corvette was discovered parked at the same apartment complex, with a third Corvette found in close proximity. The manager informed authorities that a total of eight vehicles were missing from the plant’s rear lot, prompting a search for the remaining vehicles.

According to the incident report, security footage from the apartment complex captured three vehicles entering the premises. A man, dressed in a green pullover sweatshirt with a red shirt underneath, gray sweatpants, and keeping his hood up, was observed exiting a light gray Corvette. The man was seen walking towards the front of the complex before returning and heading to the left of the front building.

As the deputies carried on with their investigation, dispatch received a call from a transport driver who described an unusual encounter with two individuals requesting to transport Corvettes to Michigan. The driver noted that the men were rushing him during the loading process, resulting in damage to the vehicles’ undersides.

A police representative mentioned their belief that at least nine individuals were implicated in the theft. All the vehicles were reportedly driven simultaneously through a gap cut in a chain link fence at the plant. While the identities of the other perpetrators remain unknown, law enforcement is expecting further arrests once they are identified. It was clarified that Walker has no connections to the plant.
