April showers bring May flowers, and with them, the Flower Moon! Monday night is the ideal time to witness May’s full moon, also referred to as the Flower Moon. According to Space.com, it will peak in illumination at 12:56 p.m. ET, with observers in New York catching their first glimpse above the southeastern horizon at 8:30 p.m. ET. The name “Flower Moon” originates from the spring blooms that adorn the landscape during this season, as reported by Space.com. This month’s full moon is also a micromoon, appearing smaller than usual due to its farthest distance from Earth. The next full moon is scheduled for June 11 and is known as the Strawberry Moon.
