Massive Fire Engulfs Fort Worth Recycling Plant, Smoke Seen for Miles!

A fire broke out at a recycling plant in Fort Worth, Texas, sending dark smoke billowing into the sky and visible from a great distance. Video footage of Sunday’s incident captured a large section of land engulfed in flames, as firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze.

The Fort Worth Fire Department reported receiving reports of a significant brush fire on Sunday afternoon at the Silver Creek Materials facility located on the city’s far west side. Upon arrival, emergency crews discovered a substantial burning pile of mulch, pallets, and other discarded materials.

Silver Creek Materials, a company specializing in recycling, mining, composting, and organic products, did not immediately provide a comment in response to USA TODAY’s inquiry. The fire department noted that strong winds had fueled the flames, causing them to spread towards a massive stack of tires and other flammable materials, resulting in a large, dark plume of smoke visible for miles around.

The cause of the fire remains unknown, and the proximity of the blaze to a main road made it challenging for firefighters to access sufficient water to combat the inferno effectively. Despite some minor injuries sustained by firefighters during the operation, no structures were damaged.

The firefighting operation continued into the following day, concluding early Monday morning. Saman Shafiq, a trending news reporter for USA TODAY, can be contacted at sshafiq@gannett.com or followed on X and Instagram @saman_shafiq7.
