In Alabama, a 41-year-old lunch lady named Amy Nicole Wigginton has admitted to engaging in sexual encounters at her home with a male student under the age of 19. The incidents reportedly occurred on two occasions, March 7 and 31. Wigginton, who is married with children, allegedly brought the teen to her family’s residence in Rogersville for these encounters. When confronted by local authorities, she confessed to the illicit relationship and was taken into custody earlier this week. Despite not being charged with having sex with a minor, Wigginton faces two counts of a school employee engaging in a sex act.
The Lauderdale County Schools system, where Wigginton is employed, has placed her on administrative leave in light of the allegations. Wigginton is currently being held at the Lauderdale County Jail on a $100,000 bond. This scandal follows the recent arrest of another educator, Christina Formella, a special education teacher in Illinois accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old male student. Formella’s emotional reaction to her charges gained widespread attention, with her asserting that she was being framed by the student and targeted due to her appearance.
