Marlins pitcher Max Meyer will be undergoing season-ending labral repair surgery on his left hip this Friday in Nashville, Tennessee. The surgery, to be performed by Dr. Thomas Byrd, is expected to have a recovery timeline of approximately six to eight months. Meyer landed on the injured list on June 3 due to a left hip impingement following a tough outing against the Colorado Rockies. Manager Clayton McCullough expressed disappointment over the news, emphasizing the importance of Meyer’s recovery for the next season. Meyer, who went 3-5 with a 4.73 ERA in 12 starts this year, has faced injury setbacks over the past four seasons, including Tommy John surgery in 2022 and a shoulder bursitis issue in 2023. The Marlins are currently missing left-hander Ryan Weathers, who is out with a left lat strain. McCullough did not confirm Meyer’s return for spring training, stating that it will depend on his rehab progress.
