Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell’s Epic Journey Delayed From May!

Sony has postponed the domestic theatrical release of the romantic fantasy film “A Big Bold Beautiful Journey,” starring Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell, from May 9 to Sept. 19. According to sources close to production, the decision to move the release to September was driven by the studio’s preference for that timeframe, which features more horror and male-centered titles, providing the female-led event film with a better opportunity to shine.

Directed by Kogonada, the movie follows the emotional journey that connects two strangers and stars Lily Rabe, Jodie Turner-Smith, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Hamish Linklater. Seth Reiss, known for “The Menu,” wrote the script for the film.

30West is financing “A Big Bold Beautiful Journey,” with Sony Pictures handling the global theatrical release. The project is produced by Bradley Thomas, Ryan Friedkin, Seth Reiss, and Youree Henley of Imperative Entertainment, with Kogonada, Ilene Feldman, and Ori Eisen serving as executive producers.

After winning a bidding war to acquire the film in February 2024 during the European Film Market in Berlin, Sony Pictures’ motion picture group chairman Tom Rothman referred to the project as “a project from heaven.”

Actors Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell, along with director Kogonada, are represented by various agencies and management teams.
