Maple Leafs Goalie Anthony Stolarz to Miss Games After Hospitalization!

Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Anthony Stolarz, who was hospitalized after sustaining two head injuries in the series opener, will not play in Game 2. Maple Leafs coach Craig Berube announced that Joseph Woll will start in goal for Game 2 against the Florida Panthers, with Matt Murray as the backup.

“Anthony is on the road to recovery,” Berube stated, as reported by ESPN’s Kristen Shilton. “He’s doing okay and we’re taking the necessary precautions.”

Woll stepped in for Stolarz during Game 1, where he allowed three goals on 20 shots as the Maple Leafs secured a 5-4 victory. Stolarz was struck by a shot from Sam Reinhart in the first period and later collided with Florida’s Sam Bennett in the crease during the second period, resulting in his removal from the game.

After experiencing discomfort and being evaluated, Stolarz was taken to the hospital for further assessment before being discharged. Despite the incidents, Bennett received no penalties or disciplinary action from the NHL Player Safety department.

Game 2 between the Maple Leafs and Panthers is scheduled for Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET in Toronto, airing on ESPN.
