Man Killed in Tragic Collision Involving Police Car and Pedestrian

A pedestrian tragically lost his life in a collision with a police car in Birmingham on Wednesday evening, as confirmed by West Midlands Police. The 40-year-old man was declared dead at the scene, with his family receiving support from authorities. Fortunately, the two officers in the vehicle were unharmed.
The incident occurred just before 19:00 on Yardley Road, near Florence Road in Acocks Green, when a marked police car collided with the pedestrian. The police were responding to a 999 call reporting a man carrying knives on Warwick Road in Acocks Green. Despite their prompt response, upon arrival at the reported location, no signs of any disturbance were found.
West Midlands Police is cooperating with the Independent Office for Police Conduct regarding the matter and has urged anyone with relevant information or dashcam footage to come forward.
