A man who was convicted of killing his estranged wife has passed away after spending over forty years on death row in Florida. Robert Peede, 81, died at Florida State Prison in Starke on Monday, as per records from the Florida Department of Corrections. The cause of his death has not been immediately disclosed. In 1984, Peede was found guilty of murdering his estranged wife, Darla Peede, the previous year. Court documents indicate that Peede drove from his residence in North Carolina to Florida in March of 1983 with the aim of persuading his wife to return with him. It was during their journey back that Peede stopped near Orlando and fatally stabbed his wife in the neck, according to prosecutors. Her body was later discovered discarded in a wooded area of Georgia. When Peede was apprehended at his residence in Hillsboro, North Carolina, Darla Peede’s vehicle was found parked outside, with the interior heavily stained with blood.
