“A man has been charged after climbing Big Ben’s Elizabeth Tower at the Palace of Westminster in central London. Daniel Day, 29, from Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex, has been charged with causing a public nuisance and trespassing on a protected site. He was remanded in custody to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court. Emergency services responded to reports of a protester climbing the tower with a Palestinian flag. The man was eventually brought down in a cherry picker after 16 hours on the ledge. The incident led to road closures and cancellations of tours in the area. A small group of supporters gathered nearby showing their support.”
