A 46-year-old man has been apprehended for allegedly attempting to open emergency exit doors on a plane, as reported by the Australian Federal Police. The passenger is facing charges of endangering the safety of an aircraft and assaulting the crew, with the suspect identified as Shadi Taisser Ayed Alsaaydeh. The incident occurred during a flight from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to Sydney, where the man reportedly tried to open multiple emergency exit doors. He was ultimately restrained by crew and passengers after allegedly assaulting an airline staff member. The Australian Federal Police has emphasized the gravity of such behavior, stating that it could have led to tragic consequences. The airline, AirAsia, confirmed that the incident was handled by their trained cabin crew and that the safety of passengers and crew was not compromised. Authorities are investigating the matter, and the suspect has been arrested upon landing at Sydney International Airport.

Before the flight, the lawyer mentioned that his client had consumed drugs and alcohol. The lawyer also stated that his client cannot recall the incident. According to the report, police claimed that Alsaayded supposedly choked a flight attendant who intervened as he tried to open the second emergency exit. It is reported that multiple passengers also got involved. Alsaaydeh, a Jordanian government employee en route to Sydney for a meeting with other officials, was reportedly denied bail.
