(Reuters) – Tesla has decided to implement a surprising price adjustment for its Model X cars in the United States, as indicated on its official website. The renowned EV maker has increased the prices of its Model X all-wheel drive vehicles by $5,000, setting the new price at $84,990 compared to the previous price of $79,990. Additionally, the upgraded plaid variant, previously priced at $94,990, will now cost prospective buyers $99,990. This adjustment comes on the heels of Tesla’s previous decision to raise prices for its Model S vehicles in the U.S. by $5,000 last December, and subsequently increasing rates for all its models in Canada starting February 1. Notably, Tesla has not disclosed the specific reasons behind this recent price surge.
In an effort to streamline production costs, Tesla has been diligently working towards reducing manufacturing expenses. In January, the company revealed that the average costs associated with materials and labor for producing its vehicles had reached a record low in the fourth quarter, largely attributed to a decline in raw material prices. Despite these price adjustments, Tesla continues to innovate and maintain its position as a leader in the luxury electric car market.
