After his release, he made a career change and delved into consulting for other white-collar defendants. Rothfeld’s company, Inside Outside Ltd, shared an article from the New York Post about his appointment on its website. When approached by Fox News Digital, he referred inquiries to a spokesperson for Mangione’s defense team, who also chose not to provide a statement.
In addition to guiding defendants through the legal process from indictment to sentencing, Inside Outside also collaborates with their defense lawyers on specific court documents and support letters.
Mangione stands accused of orchestrating a cross-country journey that involved the targeted shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson on December 4, just outside the hotel where his company was set to host an investor conference later that morning. Thompson, hailing from Minnesota, had traveled to New York City for the event.
Following the incident, Mangione allegedly fled the city, sparking a five-day interstate manhunt that culminated in his apprehension at a McDonald’s in Altoona, Pennsylvania, after employees and patrons identified him from a wanted poster.
Former movie producer Harvey Weinstein made an appearance in Manhattan Criminal Court on July 19, 2024, in New York City. Prosecutors are gearing up for a retrial of the ex-mogul after his 2020 rape conviction was overturned.
Upon his arrest, authorities discovered Mangione in possession of the purported murder weapon, which included a 3D-printed receiver and suppressor, along with a counterfeit ID he purportedly used to check into a Manhattan hostel before the shooting.
Mangione faces a multitude of charges, including first-degree murder linked to terrorism at the state level and stalking murder in federal court. Additionally, he is charged with carrying a forged ID and illegal possession of a firearm in both New York and Pennsylvania. He is presently incarcerated without bail at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
Weinstein, a former powerhouse in Hollywood, was convicted of sexual offenses in 2020. Subsequently, his conviction was overturned by the courts, and he remains incarcerated awaiting a fresh trial, alongside a new indictment. Following a 2021 sex assault conviction in Los Angeles, Weinstein faces comparable allegations in London as well.
