Lazio Bounces Back with Dominant 3-0 Win at Verona!

In a redemptive display on Sunday, Lazio overcame a turbulent week to secure a convincing 3-0 victory against relegation-threatened Hellas Verona. The triumph marked Lazio’s first win of the year after a rocky start to 2025 that included a loss to Roma in the derby and a lackluster draw against Como last weekend.

The match kicked off with a bang for Lazio, as Samuel Gigot wasted no time in nodding in a corner less than two minutes into the game. The early goal set the tone for the visitors, who continued to assert their dominance. Boulaye Dia extended Lazio’s lead in the 21st minute with a spectacular solo effort, outpacing three Verona defenders before finding the back of the net with precision.

Former Verona player turned Lazio stalwart, Mattia Zaccagni, put the game beyond doubt early in the second half with a well-taken goal. Verona’s hopes of a comeback were further dashed when Ondrej Duda received his marching orders in the dying minutes of the game, reducing his side to ten men.

The victory propelled Lazio into fourth place in the Serie A standings, trailing Atalanta by four points and league leaders Napoli by 11 points. Meanwhile, Inter Milan, in second place, took on Empoli in a later fixture.

On the other hand, Verona, recently acquired by American firm Presidio Investors, found themselves languishing in the relegation zone alongside Como, with both teams tied on points in their battle for survival.

In the relegation dogfight, Cagliari surged past 10-man Lecce with a resounding 4-1 victory, leapfrogging their opponents in the table to claim 13th place. However, despite the win, Cagliari remained precariously perched just two points above the relegation zone in a fiercely contested lower half of the league.

Parma found themselves teetering on the edge of the relegation abyss after a 1-1 draw against Venezia, who themselves were four points adrift of safety. The draw did little to alleviate the pressure on Parma, who were just a point clear of the drop zone.

In a match marred by controversy, Fiorentina’s stuttering form continued as they were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw at home by Torino, who played with ten men for the majority of the game. Despite taking the lead through Moise Kean, Fiorentina’s lackluster performance drew jeers from the home crowd as Gvidas Gineitis capitalized on a defensive error to snatch a late equalizer for Torino.

Fiorentina’s winless streak in the league extended to over a month, with four defeats and two draws leaving them in sixth place and under mounting scrutiny. The team’s inability to secure a victory has raised concerns among fans and pundits alike, with questions
