Last Chance to Watch Hoda Kotb on ‘Today’ Show!

Hoda Kotb surprised her fans with the news in September that she would be departing from the Today show. In a heartfelt letter, the 60-year-old shared her decision, expressing the emotional turmoil she was experiencing. “As I write this, my heart is all over the map,” she penned. “I know I’m making the right decision, but it’s a painful one. And you all are the reason why. They say two things can be right at the same time, and I’m feeling that so deeply right now. I love you and it’s time for me to leave the show.”

While reflecting on her significant broadcast career, Hoda highlighted the importance of dedicating more time to her daughters, Haley Joy, 7, and Hope Catherine, 5, as well as her mother. She emphasized their need for a larger share of her time, prompting her departure from the show.

The announcement of Hoda’s departure raised several questions regarding her last day on the show. Hoda’s final appearance on Today is scheduled for Friday, January 10, with the network embracing the occasion as a “Hoda-bration” of her tenure. The celebration commenced on January 6 with a reunion of Hoda with 70 of her Virginia Tech Tri Delta sorority sisters. Subsequent events included a poignant segment on January 7 featuring the Ludwig family, whom Hoda had connected with during her breast cancer journey.

In terms of her replacement on the show, Craig Melvin, the current co-host of the third hour of Today, will be stepping into Hoda’s role. Hoda expressed her support for Craig’s new position, affirming his suitability for the job. During an on-air exchange in November, Hoda praised Craig, stating, “You are made for this job. You are literally made for this job. You are that kind of good. You have all the things that this job needs. You’re the right person for it.”

Following Hoda’s departure, the fourth hour of Today will undergo a transformation, becoming Today with Jenna & Friends. Co-host Jenna Bush Hager will engage with a rotating lineup of guest co-hosts until a permanent replacement is identified. Notable figures scheduled to feature in this capacity include Taraji P. Henson, Eva Longoria, and Keke Palmer.

Looking ahead, Hoda intends to prioritize her family, having recently relocated with her daughters to the suburbs of New York. She has outlined a structured routine for her post-Today life, detailing her mornings that involve fitness activities, school drop-offs, and leisurely walks. Additionally, Hoda hinted at an upcoming venture in the health and wellness sphere, emphasizing a commitment to making wellness accessible to a broader audience.

As Hoda steps away from her role on Today, her dedicated viewers will undoubtedly miss her presence. Nevertheless, her departure marks a new chapter in her life, one focused on family, wellness, and new professional endeavors.
