The chaos began when an unidentified suspect opened fire on the trooper in Fayette County at 11:36 a.m. The suspect then fled the scene, leading troopers and the Lexington Police Department to pursue him to the Richmond Road Baptist Church. Authorities confirmed that there were multiple victims at the church, where emergency medical services were providing care. Unfortunately, the suspect was fatally wounded during the confrontation. There were reports of another shooting near Blue Grass Airport, approximately 16 miles northwest of the church, around the same time. The airport confirmed an incident on its property, resulting in one person being transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
