President Donald Trump stated his intention to nominate Chad Meredith as a judge for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky. Describing Meredith as highly experienced and well qualified, he lauded him as a courageous patriot who upholds the Rule of Law. Meredith, who previously served as Kentucky’s solicitor general and practiced as a litigation attorney in Ohio since 2021, has held significant roles in Kentucky’s legal field. Senator Mitch McConnell commended Trump’s nomination of Meredith, citing his exceptional resume and public service record. Though both Trump and Biden considered Meredith for a judicial nomination in the past, Biden ultimately decided against it due to opposition from progressives and abortion-rights advocates. Trump has announced 12 judicial nominees in his second term after securing Senate confirmation for 234 nominees in his first term.
