While Ripa joined the show in 2001 and has co-hosted with different partners including Michael Strahan and Ryan Seacrest, her current co-host is her husband, Mark Consuelos.Consuelos, although officially becoming a co-host in April 2023, shares with PEOPLE the sentimental value the studio holds for them throughout the years. “Our children grew up here,” Consuelos reflects in an interview with PEOPLE following the taping of Live with Kelly and Mark’s final episode at the location, which aired on April 1. “They frequently visited their mom here—it was practically a second home for them.”Ripa and Consuelos, both aged 54, have three children—Michael, 27, Lola, 23, and Joaquin, 22. Reflecting on the past, Ripa recalls, “They used to accompany me to work every day until they started school. They would be with me on All My Children, and later here… when we say they were raised within these four walls, we truly mean it.””Our bond with this building and the people here runs deep,” adds Consuelos. “Some of our dearest friends are part of the Live family, and our kids have strong connections with them as well.”Ripa notes the unique environment that allowed her to balance work and motherhood seamlessly. “Having my kids around was a blessing in a time when maternity leave wasn’t common. They understood the demands of my job here, which is live morning TV, and I could be a dedicated working mother simultaneously.
