Meet Julia Miller, the creative mind behind Yond Interiors, where rich wooden interiors and layered textiles come together in perfect harmony. Julia’s journey to this world of design was a long and winding one. Starting out as a clinical social worker, she never imagined she would end up in the interior design industry. It wasn’t until she renovated her own home and gained a following on social media that she found the confidence to pursue her passion for interiors.
Describing her discovery of a love for interiors as a perfect puzzle piece falling into place, Julia is now the creative director of Yond Interiors based in Minneapolis. Her portfolio showcases her talent for designing spaces that blend classic and contemporary styles effortlessly. She has a knack for incorporating natural materials and textured walls like plaster or limewash, creating signature moments in each project.
Julia credits her success to building relationships with fellow designers early on and learning the business side of things through mentorship and friendship. When it comes to working with clients, she believes in letting the home aesthetic evolve organically through conversation, time, and observation. She encourages clients to experiment with furniture layouts and is known for her unique use of color and wallpaper on ceilings to add a touch of whimsy.
Currently, Julia is focused on exploring global interpretations of midcentury design with earthy, warm, and textural details. She has a passion for vintage lounge chairs, particularly those designed by Bruno Mathsson. In an interview, Julia expressed her admiration for the late Charlotte Perriand and her commitment to designing for better living. Yond Interiors is set to launch a custom furniture line in late 2025, showcasing Julia’s unique design aesthetic.
