Jeeno Thitikul Dominates with Thrilling Three-Stroke Lead at Women’s PGA!

Jeeno Thitikul, ranked second in the world, is on track to secure her first major victory at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship in Frisco, Texas. The 22-year-old Thai golfer holds a three-shot lead heading into the weekend after carding a 2-under-par 70 in the second round, reaching a total score of 6-under 138 at PGA Frisco’s Fields Ranch East course.

Thitikul’s closest competitors are Minjee Lee of Australia, who shot even-par 72, and Japan’s Rio Takeda, who finished with a 71 thanks to a strong finish with several birdies. Lexi Thompson also sits in contention at 2 under after posting a 70 in the second round.

The challenging course saw only one player break 70, with England’s Charley Hull shooting a 3-under 69 to secure her spot for the weekend. Thitikul, who started the day with a one-shot lead, showcased solid performance with timely birdies to extend her lead.

Looking ahead, Thitikul acknowledges the importance of managing the wind conditions and staying focused on executing each shot effectively. Thompson, a seasoned competitor making a comeback after stepping back from full-time play, aims to contend for her second major title this weekend.

Other notable contenders include Auston Kim, who is tied for fifth at 1 under, and World No. 1 Nelly Korda, who sits at 2 over after the second round. The projected cut line at 7 over par saw some prominent players miss the mark, including defending champion Amy Yang and two-time major winner Lilia Vu.

Despite facing tough competition, Thitikul remains poised to secure a historic victory and further solidify her status as a rising star in women’s golf.
