Smoke rises following an Israeli airstrike on Gaza City on Saturday. An IDF statement confirmed that Hamas co-founder Hakham Muhammad Issa Al-Issa was killed in a strike in Sabra area of Gaza City on Friday. Al-Issa, described as a key figure within Hamas, held significant positions in the organization until his death. He was identified as a senior member of the militant group’s military wing and a founder of both Hamas and its military arm. At the time of his demise, Al-Issa served as the Head of Combat Support Headquarters and was part of Hamas’ General Security Council. The IDF credited him with involvement in planning the October 7th massacre but did not disclose specific details. Hamas had initiated the attack on Israel on that date, resulting in casualties and hostages. The conflict has had devastating consequences, with thousands killed, injured, displaced, and lacking essential resources like food, water, and medical supplies. U.S. President Donald Trump hinted at a potential ceasefire in the coming week, although the terms were unclear. Israel’s military vowed to target and eliminate terrorists involved in the October 7th attack. In addition to Al-Issa, other senior Hamas officials, including chief Mohammed Sinwar, have been targeted by Israel since the conflict began.
