Important Recall Alert for Popular Granola Bars

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced a recall of over 2.4 million cases of MadeGood Granola Bars in the U.S. due to a potential presence of metal pieces. Riverside Natural Foods Inc., the manufacturer of the bars, initially issued the recall for specific batches on December 9, 2024. The recall was updated by the FDA on February 11 to a “Class II” recall, indicating possible temporary adverse health effects if consumed.

The affected granola bars, produced between January and November 2024, include various flavors such as Chocolate Chip, Mixed Berry, Strawberry, Cookies & Crème, Chocolate Banana, Chocolate Drizzled Birthday Cake, Chocolate Drizzled Cookie Crumble, and Chocolate Drizzled Vanilla.

Although the company received seven complaints about metal pieces in their product, they maintain no reported injuries. The recall was issued as a precautionary measure to ensure consumer safety. Riverside Natural Foods Inc. has identified and rectified the manufacturing issue and implemented new processes to prevent future risks.

Customers are advised to return the recalled granola bars, available in different pack sizes, to the store of purchase for a refund. MadeGood bars are described as organic, gluten-free, kosher parve snacks free from the top nine allergens. The company emphasizes their efforts to minimize heavy metal traces in their products and comply with stringent standards set by Proposition 65 in California.
