Uncover exclusive journeys of a lifetime.
Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas has become a huge success for the cruise line, and it’s not solely due to the destinations it visits. In essence, when passengers reserve a voyage on Icon, the ship itself is the main attraction. While some still anticipate visiting Royal Caribbean’s Perfect Day at CocoCay private island and other Caribbean ports, alternative Royal Caribbean ships offer more budget-friendly options to reach those destinations. Travelers are willing to pay a premium to sail on Icon for the unique onboard experience.
Icon of the Seas doesn’t offer particularly distinctive itineraries. It typically offers 7-day cruises, alternating between Eastern and Western Caribbean routes. Currently, there are 110 sailings available for Icon of the Seas until April 2027, with only 9 different ports visited across all trips. Nearly 100 of the voyages follow the same Eastern and Western itineraries. Similarly, Star of the Seas, Royal Caribbean’s second Icon-class ship launching in late Summer 2025, will have comparable itineraries.
Star of the Seas, like Icon, will operate out of Port Canaveral, offering 7-day Eastern and Western Caribbean routes. The published itineraries for both ships include visits to the same 9 ports.

Legend of the Seas promises more diverse itineraries. Due to their size, the Icon-class ships have limitations on the ports they can visit. However, Legend of the Seas, the third Icon-class ship, aims to introduce more variety. Initially homeported in Europe in Summer 2026 before moving to Fort Lauderdale in November, Legend offers intriguing itineraries, such as 7-night Western Mediterranean cruises from Rome and Barcelona.
Apart from its European season, Legend of the Seas will feature unique itineraries that might appeal to U.S. cruisers.
A standout itinerary is a 13-night transatlantic cruise departing from Barcelona in late October 2026, with stops in three Spanish ports and nine full days at sea before reaching Florida on Nov. 7. This voyage allows cruisers ample time to enjoy all of Legend’s onboard amenities.
Another appealing option aboard Legend is a 3-night Perfect Day Getaway Cruise, with a day at Perfect Day at CocoCay and a sea day to enjoy the ship. This short cruise offers the chance for travelers to experience a sea day, which is often lacking on shorter voyages.

For the New Year’s holiday week at the end of 2026, Legend of the Seas will be offering an 8-night Southern Caribbean cruise. While this may not seem like a unique concept at first glance, as the ship typically alternates between 6-night Western Caribbean and 8-night Southern Caribbean itineraries departing from Fort Lauderdale, there is a special twist to this particular holiday voyage. What sets this sailing apart is the inclusion of an overnight stay in Aruba. Legend of the Seas will dock in Aruba at 8 am on December 29th and will remain there until 4 pm the following day.
It’s worth noting that Legend of the Seas boasts a more diverse menu of sailings compared to its sister ships, promising a variety of exciting experiences for passengers. If you’re looking for a cruise that offers both an appealing ship and captivating ports of call, consider exploring the itineraries available for booking on Royal Caribbean’s website.
