Hunter Biden is considering dropping his lawsuit against former Trump aide Garrett Ziegler due to financial difficulties. The lawsuit, filed in 2023, accuses Ziegler of breaching state and federal laws by creating a searchable database of Biden’s emails. Despite a judge’s decision to deny Ziegler’s request to dismiss the case and pay legal fees, Biden, the son of the former president, cites financial hardships as the reason for wanting to end the litigation.
In a court filing, Biden’s attorneys explained that he has experienced a significant decline in income and is burdened with debts amounting to millions of dollars. The situation worsened after Biden’s rental house became uninhabitable following a fire in the Pacific Palisades earlier this year, forcing him to focus on relocating and covering his family’s living expenses rather than pursuing the lawsuit.
The filing highlights the decrease in revenue from Biden’s memoir sales and artwork, which have been his main sources of income. Biden disclosed that while he previously sold artwork for an average of $50,000 per piece, his most recent sale was only $36,000. Furthermore, his book sales have dropped significantly compared to when he initiated legal action.
This isn’t the first legal battle related to the controversy surrounding Biden’s laptop. He had previously filed a suit against Rudy Giuliani with similar allegations, which he also sought to withdraw last year.
