The New York City Police Department (NYPD) has released new photographs of four individuals believed to have been involved in a violent incident outside a nightclub in Queens on New Year’s Day. The incident resulted in injuries to 10 young people.
In one of the images, a perpetrator is seen firing a gun at a group of individuals outside the Amazura Concert Hall in Jamaica, where a memorial service was taking place for a teenager who had been killed in Brooklyn. Another photograph shows a suspect reloading a gun with both hands pointed towards the ground, while a third image captures another suspect carrying a firearm at his waist.
The shooting took place outside the Amazura Concert Hall in Jamaica, Queens, with a total of 30 bullets being fired into the crowd. The victims, aged between 16 and 19, were taken to nearby hospitals with injuries that were reported as non-life-threatening.
Following the shooting, the attackers fled the scene and escaped in a white sedan. As of now, there have been no arrests made in connection with the incident.
On the evening of the shooting, over 100 people had gathered at the Amazura Concert Hall to commemorate the life of a 16-year-old named Taearion Mungo, who had been fatally shot in Brooklyn on October 26. Law enforcement sources are investigating whether the shooting may have been linked to gang-related activities.
It is believed that Mungo may have had associations with the FNO street gang, also known as the “For N—ers Only” crew, which could have been a contributing factor to the violence that unfolded outside the nightclub.
Both Mayor Adams and Governor Hochul have publicly denounced teenage violence and the presence of illegal firearms following the incident.
The NYPD is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating the four suspects involved in the shooting. Anyone with information is urged to contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or 1-888-57-PISTA (74782) for Spanish speakers.
