Gunman Strikes CEO’s Home in Oregon

A mysterious gunman targeted the residence of SAIF CEO Chip Terhune in Lake Oswego, Oregon. The incident occurred at around 4 a.m. on a Friday when multiple rounds were fired at Terhune’s house, causing damage to the glass front door. The suspect is believed to have escaped in a nearby car and was still evading the authorities as of Thursday.

The motive behind the shooting remains undisclosed by the police. This unsettling event follows closely after the tragic killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson outside a hotel in New York City. The suspect in the New York case, Luigi Mangione, a 26-year-old Ivy League graduate, had expressed grievances about the healthcare system in America before committing the heinous act. Mangione, captured on camera wearing a hood, coldly approached Thompson and fatally shot him at close range.

Chip Terhune, in an email to over 1,000 SAIF employees, revealed that the perpetrator had sent a threatening email prior to the attack. The email, although not targeting a specific individual, contained personal information such as employee and their relatives’ names and addresses. Terhune emphasized the seriousness of the situation and urged his staff to report any safety concerns they might have.

Despite the gravity of the situation, details about the threatening email have not been shared with the public at the request of law enforcement. Terhune assured his employees that the authorities were actively investigating the matter. Mangione, the accused individual in the New York case, has pleaded not guilty to various charges, including murder as an act of terrorism, relating to the assassination of Brian Thompson.
