Google’s Groundbreaking Partnership with Nuclear Developer Unveiled!

Google announced on Wednesday its investment in Elementl Power to support the development of three advanced nuclear sites in the U.S. The tech giant will provide early-stage capital to prepare these potential sites for nuclear projects. Google will have the option for commercial off-take from the projects once Elementl Power has built and started generating power at the sites. The collaboration aims to enhance power grids and leverage advanced nuclear technology for reliable energy supply. Elementl Power plans to introduce over 10 gigawatts of new nuclear capacity by 2025, with a focus on small advanced reactors. Google has also signed a similar deal with another nuclear energy company, Kairos Power, to purchase clean energy for its data centers from small modular reactors starting in 2030. Other tech companies like Microsoft and Amazon are also exploring nuclear energy options to meet increasing electricity demand, particularly from data centers. Reports suggest a significant rise in electricity consumption in the U.S., highlighting the need for sustainable energy solutions like nuclear power.
