Kyiv, Ukraine (AP) — An undisclosed economic pact has been established between Ukraine and the United States, as reported by three high-ranking Ukrainian officials on Tuesday. The agreement is set to encompass various aspects of economic cooperation, particularly focusing on the extraction and utilization of rare earth minerals.
The three officials, who chose to remain anonymous due to confidentiality reasons, expressed their insights on the matter. One official mentioned that Kyiv is optimistic that finalizing the agreement will secure the continuous provision of crucial military assistance from the U.S., which Ukraine urgently requires. At present, there has been no immediate response from the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump following inquiries for comments on this development.
The signing of the agreement is anticipated to take place as early as Friday, with preparations underway for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to visit Washington and meet with President Trump, as stated by one of the Ukrainian officials. Furthermore, another official highlighted that the agreement will serve as a platform for Zelenskyy and Trump to engage in discussions regarding the ongoing military support to Ukraine, underscoring Kyiv’s eagerness to formalize this economic collaboration.
