A bus travelling from Tayabamba city of Peru to the capital Lima went out of control in the town of Cusca and rolled into a 300-metre cliff.
In the accident, 20 people died on the spot, 6 people were injured. Search and rescue teams were dispatched to the region.
In the statement made by the Regional Emergency Operation Centre (COER), it was stated that the vehicles had been slipping on the roads for a while due to the rains.
An investigation was launched into the cause of the accident.
Authorities emphasised that the roads in the region were slippery due to the rains and drivers should be careful.
