Tainted melon killed 8 people!

Due to the salmonella outbreak caused by spoiled cantaloupe, 8 people died, 3 in the USA and 5 in Canada, and hundreds of people were hospitalized.

In a statement from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), it was reported that 230 people in 38 states have been affected by the salmonella outbreak since mid-November. In the statement, it was stated that 96 of the patients were hospitalized and 3 people died.

Canadian health officials also announced that 129 cases were found in the country and 8 of the 44 people hospitalized died. The CDC pointed out that the source of the disease is cantaloupes sold in cut form in the markets and called on the public not to buy and consume cantaloupes of unknown origin.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) also announced the recall of products from brands linked to the outbreak. In the majority of cases, the symptoms disappear in a few days, but young people and those with weak immune systems may need to be hospitalized.
