Rat infestation in Australia!

According to ABC News, due to the increasing rat population in areas close to fishing towns, rats that come to coastal areas in search of food have invaded the towns.

Fishing boat owner Jemma Probert told ABC News that rats that come to the coastal area drown in the waves and wash back ashore.

On the other hand, fishermen are worried that the rats infesting the towns will also damage millions of dollars worth of equipment inside the fishing vessels.

Luke Leung, Associate Professor of Ecology at the University of Queensland, stated that the record rainfall at the beginning of the year caused the rats to breed more and that infestations have been seen since June.

The last rat infestation in the region was in 2011.
