Irish police announced that 34 people were detained following the violent incidents caused by protesters gathered in the city center after the knife attack in which 5 people, including 3 children, were injured yesterday.

Irish Police Chief Drew Harris blamed a crazy, hooligan group with far-right ideology for the violence. Despite protesters' claims that an immigrant man carried out the attack, sources told the BBC that the suspect was an Irish citizen in his late 40s who has lived in the country for 20 years.

"THEY BROUGHT SHAME TO THE COUNTRY" Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar said in a statement that around 500 people were involved in yesterday's violence. Varadkar said those who burned cars and looted shops in central Dublin "brought shame to Ireland" and promised that new laws would be passed within weeks to bring those involved to justice.

TENSIONS BETWEEN POLICE AND PROTESTERS It was reported that 5 people were injured in a stabbing incident in front of a school in the city center yesterday in Dublin, the capital of Ireland. Irish police announced that one person was detained in connection with the attack and that this person was being treated for serious injuries.

A few hours after the incident, tensions broke out between protesters gathered near the area where the attack occurred and the Irish police. The protesters, who blamed an immigrant man for the knife attack, clashed with the police and damaged 11 police vehicles. Protesters also damaged many shops in the area and looted some of them. Three buses and a tram were also vandalized and many police officers were injured in the violence that lasted for more than three hours. The police announced at night that the violence was under control and the situation had calmed down. Irish Justice Minister Helen McEntee said in her statement on the issue, "The terrible attack in Dublin city center is a horrific crime that shocks us all, but the scenes we have witnessed in our city center cannot and will not be tolerated."
