Rukchanok Srinork, a 29-year-old MP from Thailand's main opposition Forward Movement Party (MFP), was sentenced to prison.

During the hearing held at the Thai Criminal Court in the capital Bangkok, it was ruled that two posts quoted by opposition MP Srinork on social media in 2021 were subject to the crime of treason against the king known as "Lese Majeste" and information crimes. Srinork was sentenced to 6 years in prison without a suspended sentence.

Srinork, who came to the courtroom with MFP leader Chaithawat Tulathon and other party members before the hearing, was sent to prison after the hearing.

Srinork's two posts quoted on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, are said to contain anti-monarchy statements.
