At the Day of the Dead parade in the capital Mexico City, skeleton costumes, various figures and skulls known as Catrina attracted great attention.

Mexico City Mayor Marti Batres announced that over 1 million 250 thousand people attended the parade.

In this year's parade, the "feathered snake" motif attracted the most attention of local and foreign tourists.

The Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos), celebrated by Spaniards and Latin Americans to commemorate the dead, dates back thousands of years.

Cemeteries are flooded with visitors during the Day of the Dead, which is considered one of the most colorful festivals in the country.

Offerings are made to the graves decorated with flowers and the dead are remembered by lighting candles or incense on their heads. The Day of the Dead was added to the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2008.
