British Alex Batty, who went missing in Spain where he went on vacation with his mother and grandfather in 2017, was found in France 6 years later. French authorities said Batty, who was found in Toulouse, may return to the UK.

A courier named Fabien Accidini, who found Alex exhausted on the side of the road and took him to the police station, said, "Alex said he had been walking for 4 days. He said he left from somewhere in the mountains, but he didn't say where. I searched his name on the internet and saw that he was wanted."

Accidini said Alex was trying to reach a city and find an embassy for help, and that he had contacted French authorities. Alex, who accessed Accidini's social media account, sent a message to his grandmother saying, "Hi grandma, it's Alex. I'm in Toulouse. I hope you see my message, I love you, I want to come home."

Alex's grandmother Susan Caruana, Alex's legal guardian, told British media, "I'm very happy. I've spoken to Alex and he's fine." Caruana said in 2018 that Alex was entrusted to a "spiritual community" in Morocco by his mother Melanie Batty and grandfather David Batty. 6 years of wondering where he is While it is not yet clear where the missing child has been for 6 years, it is believed that he may have traveled in the Pyrenean valleys on the border between France and Spain. Police said his mother and grandfather are being sought in connection with Alex's disappearance but their whereabouts are unknown.
