Apple is halting sales of the recently launched smartwatch series Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2.

Behind this decision, which the leading technology and software company of the USA was forced to take, lies a lawsuit regarding the patent of a software used by the company.

SUBJECT: BLOOD OXYGEN LEVELS In a lawsuit in the US, Apple was deemed unfair for using patents owned by medical equipment manufacturer Masimo to detect oxygen levels in the blood.

It was recorded that Apple infringed Masimo's patents and that the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 detected the oxygen level in the blood.

COURT SAID "STOP SALES" The court ordered Apple to stop selling these watches on online platforms as of December 21 and in retail stores as of December 24. While this decision comes at a time when sales will increase like New Year's Eve, the only smartwatch model that Apple will launch in the US will be the brand's price/performance SE model.

EYES ON BIDEN Financial Times, one of the world's leading economics and finance newspapers, reported that Apple's US President Joe Biden could veto this decision from the court. The newspaper reminded that former US President Barack Obama ruled in favor of Apple in a case in 2013. In a statement, it was stated that this sales ban will not cover other countries. If Apple does not get a response from Biden, the company will have to change the software and remove the blood oxygen measurement system in order to continue sales.

"A DECISION THAT SHOWS THAT EVEN THE MOST POWERFUL COMPANY IN THE WORLD MUST OBEY THE LAW" After the court decision, Apple's share value decreased by 1 percent, while Masimo's share value increased by 3.2 percent. Masimo officials also made a statement on the issue. "This decision showed that even the most powerful company in the world must obey the law," the statement said. Bloomberg, one of the leading media organizations in the US, reported that Apple and Masimo's agreement is also within the possibilities, noting that both companies have not yet taken a step in this direction.
