Florida Panthers Make History by Cracking Stanley Cup!

During the Florida Panthers’ Stanley Cup victory celebrations, the iconic trophy suffered a crack and dent, as seen in photographs from the festivities. The incidents occurred after Florida secured their second consecutive Stanley Cup in Game 6 against the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday. The team celebrated at Elbo Bar in Fort Lauderdale, pouring beer from the Cup onto fans. The Hockey Hall of Fame’s Keepers of the Cup plan to repair the damage before the celebration parade on Sunday. Trophy mishaps during title celebrations are not uncommon. In a past incident, Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos dropped the Copa del Rey trophy from a bus, causing it to be run over and dented. The Stanley Cup has also had its share of quirky incidents, such as being left on the side of the road by the Montreal Canadiens in 1924 and used as a toilet by a player’s daughter in 2008. Other unique celebrations include a Kentucky Derby winner eating from the Cup and a baby being baptized in it.
