Florida Official Urges Reporting Undocumented Exes to ICE Hotline!

Florida’s top prosecutor is urging victims of domestic violence, as well as those with an “ex” residing illegally in the United States, to contact his office for assistance. Attorney General Uthmeier shared on social media that individuals can reach out if their former partner is in the country unlawfully. His office recently received information about an abusive ex who overstayed a tourism visa, leading to deportation proceedings. While only the federal government has the authority to deport individuals in the country illegally, Florida has been collaborating closely with the Trump administration and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

ICE operates a tip line that receives over 15,000 calls monthly, with trained specialists gathering information and forwarding it to the Department of Homeland Security. Uthmeier, a proponent of the president’s immigration policies, has been supporting federal efforts by utilizing state resources. Notably, he introduced the concept of “Alligator Alcatraz,” a detention center aimed at housing up to 3,000 individuals to aid in the state’s deportation efforts.

For those seeking to report suspicious activity or inquire about immigration matters, ICE’s Tip Line is available 24/7. Uthmeier’s office stands ready to assist individuals dealing with ex-partners in the country illegally.
