Flood-Ravaged Texas Receives Long-Awaited Relief as Thunderstorms Subside!

The flood-affected areas of central Texas are expected to experience a decrease in severe weather as thunderstorms start moving eastward. According to the National Weather Service, scattered thunderstorms may bring heavy downpours to Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas on July 8, but they are likely to diminish as they progress eastward through the region by nightfall. After enduring several days of intense thunderstorms and heavy rains leading to widespread flooding in south-central Texas, forecasters predict some respite on Tuesday.

Additional storms may develop further east in the Deep South and southern Appalachians on July 9, but they are anticipated to weaken significantly by the evening. While there is a possibility of strong storms causing gusty winds and localized flooding in other parts of Texas, the risk of severe weather is considered low by the National Weather Service in Fort Worth. Minor flooding is expected, and flood warnings will remain in effect for certain areas, including along the Guadalupe River near Bloomington, Texas.

The death toll from the weekend storms has climbed to at least 104, with 27 children and counselors from Camp Mystic among the victims. The historic Christian girls camp in Kerr County was severely impacted by the flooding, with ten campers and one counselor still missing.
