According to the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office, a shooting in a western North Carolina community on Sunday morning resulted in the death of one person and injuries to 11 others.
The incident occurred at a residence on Walnut Acres Drive in the Mountain View community, located about 57 miles northwest of Charlotte, with deputies from the sheriff’s office and officers from the Hickory Police Department responding at 12:45 a.m.
The sheriff’s office confirmed that as of the latest update, twelve victims have been identified, with one person deceased and another in critical condition, while several others are receiving medical treatment. No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting as of Sunday morning.
Authorities, including the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office, Hickory Police Department, and special agents from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, are actively investigating the incident. The sheriff’s office is urging anyone with information related to the shooting to come forward.
